InSight Mission

Its typical of this forum not to highlight a science Mission, the Launch happened on the 5th and there doesn't seem to be a posting about it.........probably because its not connected to the Arch Marketeer at Space X.

So to get on with the real business of InSite: what is interesting is that so much can be done in space exploration without having to send a man or woman to Mars Nasa say it has two objectives the first is to understand how mars was formed:

The size of the core, what it is made of, and whether it is liquid or solid.
The thickness and structure of the crust.
The structure of the mantle and what it is made of.
How warm the interior is and how much heat is still flowing through.

How Tectonically active the planet is

How powerful and frequent internal seismic activity is on Mars, and where it is located within the structure of the planet.
How often meteorites impact the surface of Mars.

I guess thats all dependant on a successful landing

That’s because the thread was supposed to discuss InSite not another bloody rocket.

not true there is science information for example about the very sensitive seismic monitor what is true is the miss spilling

It is on mainstream news ironically in the science section and headlined as InSight, some discuss the Science packages.

If the Rocket exploded on lift off that may make front page news...but most people would view it as just another transport system (Plane train automobile) and no science being discussed. It can also be considered a Technology solution rather than a Science one, most of the discussions here havre limited to no Science and a few are about technical modifications but no actual Science.

And? Just what is your beef??

its mainly a train spotters discussion, little to no actual Science just comments about a rocket being launched and that my friend is not Science.

Ironically, this is a topic he DID start which could be of interest - once we start discussing the actual mission., As I said earlier, hopefully this thread will become interesting sometime after November when InSight starts sending back actual science.

There is science to be discussed way before InSight reaches Mars yet it seems to pass by those who claim to have an interest in Science all a bit Odd to me Eric.
