I'm about to start a project building a car and as I now have my own place a long way from my folks (Dad has all the tools) I am in the position that I need to build my own tool collection quickly. I currently have some essentials but need a lot of stuff -> Off the top of my head in no particular order:

4 Tall axle stands
Big pillar drill
Punches
Pullers
Impact wrenches
Air ratchet & Assorted Air tools
Impact sockets
More assorted sockets and spanners
Engine hoist
Compressor
Mig welder
Heavy duty Screw driver set
T bar Allen key set
Crows feet
Loads of random nuts and bolts, zinc coated and stainless
Spray gun
Oil can
Angle grinder
Bench grinder
Long reach sockets 1/2" or 3/4" sq drive
Wire brushes
Breaker bars
Wire stripper and crimping tool
Flare nut spanners
Taps and dies
Compression tester
Dremel
Pop riveter
Assorted sockets and extensions mainly 1/2 and 3/4 drive
Swivel sockets
Sharpening stones
Small Hoover
Small lathe - Myford ML7 etc
Torx - inc security ones
All the little stuff you accumulate over years that you don’t realize you need it until you need it!

I am sure i have forgotten loads in the above but you get the picture. The main question here is does anybody know of a place where I can look to get loads of stuff in a garage clear out etc? Buying all of the above brand new doesn’t make any sense so was hoping I could get a job lot off someone.

Maybe he means 3/8"?

I have a set of 3/4" sockets, but that's because my Dad was a lorry mechanic. Never used them on anything other than my lorry.
yep i mean 3/8" -> head fart. Have picked up a big load of snap on tools from an old boy selling up today for very little money so a very good start!

Including 3/8" drive sockets not 3/4" smile
