A friend of mine has a 2001 1.2 corsa, totally standard with 30k on the clock. In his 13 years of ownership he has had 5 crank sensor failures, it has come to the point where he keeps a spare with him ! He had to call the AA out last week because it wouldn't start and it was another sensor, AA man was baffled why this keeps happening, any ideas anyone?? Is this a common fault ? Was there any campaigns that this car has missed ?

Big problem with parts like this is the influx of shoddy replacements available very cheaply on fleabay etc. which are notorious for their short lives!

Worth checking with your friend where his replacement sensors have been sourced from? I think a genuine Bosch one for example is around £35, a 'cheap' one probably £10 (or less!)

Hope this helps smile
I think you could be right by buying the cheapest parts, he said he gets them from a local motor factors, I did say to him get a price from Vauxhall
