Skoda Fabia 2009 boot won't open sometimes

Hi all, got an intermittent fault with the OH's little Fabia ('09), at times the boot won't open. It's one of those solenoid efforts - what was wrong with a button and linkage?!
I've tested the switch, and I'm 100% it's okay. The boot latch is getting power but occasionally won't get a signal to activate. There's no pattern to when it will or won't work, seems totally random. The switch is definitely sending the signal to what sounds like a relay inside the dash, though none of the relays behind the fusebox control the boot and I can't find any other ones (not keen on pulling out the dash!). Oh and when the boot won't open, there's no click from the dash.
I'm at quite a loss now, anyone know anything about these?

Cheers folks, I've had a good look at the wiring, that was one of my first thoughts, all seems well.
I can get to the main relay board but it's none of them, where the clicking is coming from I can't see though.
I've since read that these cars may have a control unit for the boot and need diagnosed with VCDS! I guess that's progress!
