A friend has a Qashqai. The roof blind stuck a while ago whilst closing. They then opened it slightly and left it.

The switch now produces no response at all.

It can't be pulled forward by hand.

I checked all fuses in the glovebox. Not clear which fuse supplies it anyway.

Any suggestions other than replacing the whole blind and mechanism?

Could the motor have burned out?

Thanks.

I don't know. It isn't my car, I just had a look to see if I could fix it for a friend.

I suspected that it might be expensive.

Edit: not under warranty.

If you can get at the electrics and work out what is what, you could do a continuity check to see whether the motors are intact and apply power to see whether they're working. That might enable you to diagnose either a mechanical problem or a vehicle wiring fault. You stand a chance of fixing those without replacing the whole system. A wiring diagram would be a huge help with that task, if you can find one. Best case, it's just a faulty limit switch or something like that.
Thanks. If the car was mine, I would have dug a little deeper. I was hoping to find a simple problem to save them from visiting the main dealer.

The fact that the switch does nothing, with the screen half closed, did suggest an electrical fault.

I couldn't find much tehnical info on the www.
