Hi Folks.
Just thought you might like to know of an interesting little job in the workshop today.
Ford Focus Mk2 1.6 recovered to the workshop, with a failure to crank, and of course a non start.
Dash board was lit, and the immobiliser light was flashing to indicate an immo fault.
Codes showed no comms with the ECU.

I removed the ECU to check powers and grounds - ie that all the grounds on the ECU were actually connected to earth (All OK), and that all the power lines were at the correct voltage with the ignition on.
This failed, with several lines that should have been at 12v actually at close to 0v.
Clearly the engine ECU was failing to switch on correctly.
A few hours later, after checking various wires, fuses, connectors and relays, I found the small 3 amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box had blown. Replaced the fuse, and all was well.

I'm pretty pleased with myself for finding this (sad I know), but thought it might help someone in the future. smile

I just wanted to say a big thank you! To the person who posted this. I have a ford focus mk2 with exactly the same issue after spending hours trying to find the problem and hours on google I came across this post, I changed the 3amp fuse and the car started first time. You are amazing thank you for taking the time to update. ??
Oh, this is so much why I posted it in the first place. So glad it helped someone, and thank you for letting us know it helped. It's tickled me pink that.
