Hi guys I have a 2007 2.2 diesel FWD Transit, and it has an intermittent starting fault. I am convinced that it is a relay under the glovebox as when it does start I hear a click under there and when it doesn't I can't! Symptoms on failing is similar to a flat battery, half a revolution of the starter motor then silence.... Anyone know which relay may cause this?

RetroRestore on YouTube had this on a similar era Transit. I think it turned out to be a starter motor clean and a new battery.

Mine occasionally does it, and my dads one does quite often. It’s nothing that we can trace oddly!

If the starter keeps clicking rather than engaging it could be the ignition switch, try wiggling the key up and down whilst trying to start it.

Ignition switch on the MK7 was a common fault. A new switch is about 15 quid from memory. Fix it in under half an hour.

Just for the record, this fall was traced to the tiny round terminal on the starter solenoid... It had a hairline crack in it, a new 2p terminal sorted it!!
