Elddis motorhome fresh water capacity.

On our Elddis Autoquest 140 motorhome the fresh water tank capacity of 45 litres seems to us rather smaller than we would wish. Looking at the underside of the vehicle there is space within the chassis to fit an additional 45 litre tank, or even two more tanks of the same size.
I spoke to a motorhome dealer about adding an extra tank, and he said it couldn't be done.
His reasons were:
The vehicle will be 'type approved' with what it already has, and it can not be altered.
We could get stopped by the police, and they might find the vehicle to be overweight.
If this modification were to be made, the vehicle would become non-standard, and when we wish to sell it it would be devalued in the eyes of a prospective purchaser.
As far as I'm concerned it is quite feasible to add the extra tank, so I think these points are mostly hogwash, but does anybody have any experience of this subject and feel able to comment?

From 2012 models on Elddis thankfully went back to 90ltr tanks,45 is daft.
If you want a bigger tank then get one fitted,its perfectly doable,cak tanks are the people to talk to i think.
As for the homolgation tosh,yes its been passed with a 45ltr tank but vans get modified,stuff gets added and removed on all vans.
Im a motorhome dealer,it wont effect the value at all either way and id use it as a plus side if the van was on my pitch.

Of course it would be wise to check that permissible weight limits will not be exceeded, but this is a four berth vehicle that never carries more than three people, and usually only two, so the extra weight of tank plus contents is unlikely to be a problem.

Id try and find a van service/repair place who'll give the job a bit more effort,someone like motorhomes uk or crossleys coachcraft,both in preston but theres bound to be similar near you.
Hello again, and many thanks for your reply. Just to confirm, our vehicle was new in Auguast 2008.If its a 4 berth 140 with a 45ltr tank then it must be an 07 or 08 model,payload isnt huge on them but if you're not travelling with full tanks anyway it doesnt matter.
