I’m heading back from France to jolly old Blighty on Saturday and will have a bit of space for some plonk. I know it’s not as cheap as it used to be, but it’s certainly cheaper to bolster our supplies over here than it is at home!

Any tips on good places to go in Caen for this? Was thinking Lidl as they do Perlembourg beer which I always find is good (well, good for 50c a pint smile), but not sure if there’s anywhere else worth a visit?

Will be mainly beer, but maybe a few boxes of wine (I know, classy!) and the odd bottle of spirits too.

Cheers Rumblestripe. I’m currently sat in the garden watching the sunset and enjoying my third(ish) glass of Cabernet that I got in the Super-U in Caen thumbup

On the cheapness point, we paid €150 for 15 bottles of wine, 2 cases of Kronenbourg, 58 (small) bottles of Leffe, 1l each of whisky, vodka, spiced rum, gin and Tia Maria and 3 bottles of cheap champagne for a birthday do in a few weeks. Not too shabby when it’s compared with U.K. prices! The van didn’t like it too much though, was only about 30 miles from there to our door (plus the boat ride, obvs!) but the added weight on a 45 year old engine was VERY noticeable!!

Good point about the card. Thankfully we got a Halifax Clarity card for going to Europe though. The exchange rate is better than going to the Post Office and there’s no commission on spending abroad too so you don’t have to carry loads of cash. They’ve been good so far with rejecting payments as we haven’t had any...yet!
