Caravan newbie questions

Just had our second week away in the caravan, pretty much got it all sussed - just need a few pointers.
1 - do you load up all you clothes and things into the cupboards before you set off?
We had clothes and food in the car with us and then unpacked when we got there, but wondering if we need to bother?
2 - During the day where do you put all the bedding, under the seats?
3 - Awning - can get it up and down no problem. I pegged down all around the outside with 6” nails with a green plastic end thing.
Are there better pegs?
On the inside of the awning there is a grey plastic skirt with intended holes - should i be nailing/pegging that down as well?
Why would you have an awning covering the whole van? There were a couple there the full time we were and it was always sealed up and no windows or curtains open?! Must of been boiling!

The first and last 1M or so of our awning ‘pipe’ is soft - its not got the hard insert in it and so doesnt feed into the rail, it just pushs in and out.
Not questioned this until this weekend, when we have had 30mph guests! Looking at other awnings we should feed this bit in.
Problem is we have the canvas section sewn into the awning - its just missing its middle core.
Everything ive found is a whole new stitch in section, what can i put inside the hole to stiffen it and make it stay in the channel?
