It's that time of year again folks smile

What are your holiday plans with your preferred weapon of choice: camping, caravanning or camper van/motorhome?

We are off to Spain next week, for 2 months. biggrin

Plans for later in the year include Germany/Switzerland in May/June and Sicily in September/Oct. Interspersed with these big trips are lots of small ones in the UK. We visit Cardiff and Cheltenham to visit family and also want to try some more local sites near to where we live this year.

Just back from 6 weeks in Spain. Only 1 day of rain and it touched 26 degrees one day in Feb biggrin

Annoyingly though we were planning on going down to Sicily in April/May for a 6 week trip but have potentially postponed this now due to the virus. We'll see how the next few weeks pan out but if anywhere it may be Bavaria for a month instead

If Sicily is postponed we'll go in Sept instead.

So far, only a trip to Cardiff, Cheltenham and Cirencester planned for the end of the month.

Yep...we have postponed our trip to Sicily in May and even the replacement trip to Bavaria looks off now. frown

Fingers crossed we can go in September...

It's the not knowing really. You can't plan too far ahead as we don't know how this pesky thing will pan out.

We have a shorter trip to Cardiff, Cheltenham and Cirencester planned for the end of the month but that now looks off as Mrs O is in the high risk group with her MS; reduced immunity; and asthma!

Still could be worse I 'spose...

If you go somewhere pretty quiet and isolated and if you use your on-board facilities, then what's to stop you going? I cant imagine it will be too busy at the mo. If you like walking just keep away from other walkers...

I guess the issue comes if you fancy a pub after a nice walk eek

In fact, provided we stay clear of the virus I can see us popping off for a couple of days here and there in the MH: staying at rural sites (or even CL's or CS's) just to get a change of scenery and a bit of fresh air. We can use the on boards for 2 days and take a couple of meals with us (and some beer).

Could be just the job as long as we keep away from other folks

All Caravan club sites are closed, even the CL affiliated sites. Most sites are closing and cancelling bookings.
Yes I am aware of that.

They weren't when I put my original post on but now as things have moved on, so will we....

...except we wont as we'll be staying at home for the foreseeable! frown

So far I have cleaned my garage out; washed the Moho (including the roof); and washed the car. With 11.5 weeks of social distancing to go I thing I may have peaked too soon biggrin

Booked my motorhome in for its MOT. I'm an optimist.
Mine was booked for 14th April but I cancelled it yesterday.

Luckily the Govt has extended the MOTs for 6 months so we are good until November...as should you be Eric

Mine was going in for its MOT last week plus service. It was also going into a dealers for some minor stuff too.

All postponed.

I'd be pretty surprised if we get anything opened much before the end of June at the earliest tbh...

Still on the plus side at least I'm saving £13.75 in tax per month whilst it's SORNed party

hehe

Issue is when lockdown is unlocked there will not be any availability for servicing or MOTs. Hopefully main dealers will run the servicing 7 days a week full days too on Sat and Sun (wager they and the technicians will jump up for the work too).
True

From my pov the MOT was due in May and we have a 6 month grace period via the government from March...so good until Sept. The service was ahead of time: I always have a minor service each year despite the Ducato service schedule. These were being done by an indie garage and not a dealer. The dealer work is non essential so the moho can go there anytime.
