I know guessing is a bit like pissing in the wind, but campsites will make great places to socially isolate.

There's already a firebreak between pitches, the only issue would be the toilet/shower blocks, but with a little creativity this could be managed surely?

Myself and family are booked in for July 15th, it's been a terrible year in general and some time away in the caravan would be great and well deserved.

What are people thinking about sites reopening?

But even the showers are usually in cubicles, so if you wore a mask on the way in/out would that be suffice?

All the germs/snot would get washed off or are hot steamy showers a breeding ground for germs?

That’s what I did, booked a UK site for mid July hoping that this would all be done and dusted.

I think July 4th is looking possible if we don’t suddenly get a surge in deaths during May/June.

Not convinced by the Camping and Caravan Club woman saying stay local. If I am going to stay local I might as well stay at home!
Depends where you live I suppose, I’m in Dorset and within 20 minutes I have some great sites so it would suit us if you can only book locally.

A nice well-spoken semi-retired lady came up to my van today whilst I had the roof up, kids playing, paddle boarding etc.

She said to me ‘is that a T5 or a T6?’,

I said ‘oh this is a T6, there’s a new version now called the T6.1, but basically they are all much of a muchness underneath’

She said that she was looking to buy one, ‘what sort of money do they cost?’

Without appearing like a tt, I told her it had cost me about £70k, which I know is ridiculous for a van and yes I know I could buy a very nice motor home for that money and have change for a proper car and a can of Redbull.

Anyway she smiled and said ‘so if I spent in the region of £20k I could get something newer/similar/nicer than your one?’

I just smiled and said ‘yes, definitely’ laugh

I suspect her hearing aid needed new batteries.

I don’t think anywhere is open or even opening until July 4th at the earliest. I’ve hedged my bets and booked 2 long weekends in July at our favourite sites about 20 minutes away. Both sites said they’d take bookings from July 4th, subject to actually being allowed to open and if not deposits can be returned or transferred.

Great news.

That's the Caravan & Motorhome Club, I'm a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club, hopefully they will be updating soon along similar lines.

Side note: the two rival organisations always make me chuckle in a People's Front of Judea/Judean People's Front way ... SPLITTERS!!! laugh
Haha, I've never looked at it like that before, but I don't think I'll ever be able to not think of that sketch now. laugh

amongst my motorbiking mates we have all in the last five years bought either campervans (the young and child free), motorhomes (retirees) and caravans (working with young kids). Some of us are C&MC, some of us are C&CC. Much mirth about the PFJ vs JPF over a few beers!!

Irony being that 10yrs ago we'd have all been mocking caravanners/motorhomers for holding us up on ride outs!!
So true, gone are the 2 seater silly sports cars and now the proud owner of a middle aged grey camper van and a wobble box laugh

Currently at Warner Farm, Selsey.

Lots of rain, wind and chockablock with pond life, we won’t be rushing back here in a hurry.
