I've just nicked this out of someones profile, i found it bloody hilarious and i hope you do to..

someone said:
The 1.2 runs out of steam past 60mph. Cadence-clutching and careful gearing can see you hit about 70, but by then the engine sounds like it's about to die, and you get terminal torque-steer

The best bit is even the slowest Punto i can find on Parkers hit's 96mph, maybe on Gran Turismo you have to press special buttons

See if you can guess who this numpty is? First person get's a Mars bar....

Cheers,
Rob.

Well quite, i didn't think it was obvious.

Either way, i'll make it a king size mars bar if you know how much torque a Punto 1.2 makes at 70mph

check out andy walsh's dvd, an education

Does it teach you how to get "terminal torque-steer" at 70mph in a 1.2 Punto, or do you have to use "the force" to induce purely fictional bollox like that?

Cheers,
Rob.

Are you stupid? It's nothing to do with power

v8thunder said:
It's a documented problem on Fiat group cars of this era - the Alfa 164 suffered markedly from it, but this being one of the first Puntos with RHD, it never received the new-style steering rack developed from the 164 in about 1993, so as a result it does pull to left and right under acceleration.

Yep, nothing to do with torque or unequal length driveshafts, one dodgy steering rack is all you need to get yourself torque steering down the motorway at 70mph in a 1.2 Punto.

Best bit is he then goes on to say
v8thunder said:
Kit Car builders may like the steering rack, though.

Erm y'wha? 'Course i'd love to use this amazingly shite steering rack which (magically it seems) can send a shoppping trolly swerving off down the road under acceleration at 70MPH in my car... erm..

Cheers,
Rob.

when I look at your profile I can't seem to find your vast cavalcades of sports cars owned, race series participated in, accolades from industry insiders and your entertaining and informative articles on 'how to make even the most basic of cars outperform Italian exotics', instead, I can only find a shot of you pretending to be Morrissey. Could you answer this discrepancy, at all?

There is a simple answer - I don't need to bullshit all the time in a vein attempt to make myself seem more intelligent or interesting than i am, nor boast about my accomplishments. This board is now scattered with posts correcting what you say, which wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to state everything as fact when it seems you have no real experience in matters you are all to willing to offer your 'expert' advice on. I don't find it a problem to not know about something because i'm not afflicted with little man syndrome - personally i think this is a far better position to take then babbling crap about everything.

Now i was about to write a thrilling article on "How to spot someone talking out of their arsehole at 100 paces" but i'm going to go out and enjoy myself instead.

Byeeee,
Rob.

Cadence clutching???

Quite so. Also, i'll repeat; torque steer at 70mph in a 1.2 Punto? You what?

Anyway, i'm going to leave it here for as a wise man once said; arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics - even if you win you're still retarded.

Cheers all, hope i've made some laugh - i know i have
