Fast car for £500

Hi Guys
We are doing a bit of top gear cheap car challenge. Got to buy a car for £500 or less and race it at at a run what you brung at Shakespeare race way in October. Four of us thought we had found the perfect car a 4.0 v8 Stype Jag. But unfortunatly the gearbox went bang. Luckily we resold it for more than we got it for. Found a few 3.0 x type and s type manual jags and a few t5 volvos that could fit the bill. What do you lot think?

Not allowed to spend anymore money on it.
Thinking T5 as i already have one with a remap that i could swap the ecu over.
