The OH and I are thinking of going to the Monaco Grand prix next year.

Question 1:
Given how stty F1 cars sound these days and that part of the appeal of the Monaco GP is the sound of the engines screaming around Monte Carlo, is it still worth bothering or will I be disappointed by the noise … or lack thereof?

Question 2:
Assuming it is worth going, we’re thinking of Stand K which overlooks the circuit and harbour before the entry to the swimming pool. I’ve looked at some pics online and it appears that a ticket for Stand K will basically give you entry to the stand and it’s then up to you where to sit. Is that the case and, if so, how early on race day do you need to head into the stand to be able to get a good spot?

On the sound issue - I just want to make sure I don't feel disappointed. I've been to F1 races when the cars had proper engines so what I hear will fall below my previous experience - by how much this may be is what concerns me. We can't normally afford to do stuff like this - it's a big stretch and we're only going as it was my 40th this year and I wanted to do something really special for it, so I want to make sure it'll be worth the expense.

Your ticket to a stand gets you an allocated seat so no need to turn up early. I am pretty sure I was in Stand K a few years back when I went

I just wondered as I did a Google image search for 'Monaco Grand Prix Stand K' and it turned up this image which suggests that the area is benches without designated seating positions:
