So today's the day then when they announce to all that care what the new engine will be.

My guess is 2 litre V6 twin turbo, no heat recovery for extra flamage, simple spec KERS, with increased fuel flow limit

We already have a 15,000 rev limit but they don't get near that stopping at 12,000 because of the fuel flow limit, so they've added 3k on the rev limit, is that by allowing a higher fuel flow rate to enable 15k to be reached or is it 18k with even higher fuel flow still?

F1 needs to adopt the moto we used to have on the Engineering office wall. KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. Hence, 5ltr NA engines. Almost anyone can make one of those.
I agree – keep it simple and make it cheaper.
Less than $16,000 dollars buys this, with 720 HP (normally aspirated) on 110 octane fuel.
Would sound better than the farty little motors we have now.
(Yes, I know it will never happen and I am an idiot……)

I think that weights 550-600lbs...
And is woefully under powered for a 9.3 litre ha ha, it never ceases to amaze me how little the Americans know about engine design, give 9.3 litres to a European or Japanese designer and you'll get 10000hp

Ferrari threaten to quit F1 (so whats new) over the engine rules, I'd say off you go then, more money in the pot for the smaller teams, I certainly don't watch F1 because of Ferrari, I watch in the hope of getting good close racing, bit of rubbing and the odd crash, hope LM stand their ground and do what's best for their brand not Ferraris, like Horner said 'here's the rules, here's the entry form, if you don't like it go and do Formula E'

Stock block engines are never going to be an answer for a modern F1 formula.
They didn't do BMW any harm in the 1980's... wink
After putting 100k miles on them and then leaving them out in the elements and have bmw engineers urinate on them to season a bit more.......so the story goes!

Goodwood Revival have got there first with that one. Power with fairly skinny tyres, seems to be one of their secrets.
Of course they don't tour the world, and it is only once a year, but hugely popular with tickets sold out well before each event.
They never seem to have processional races.
And they don't have to conserve their tyres in the hope of stopping 1 less time than their opponent, or conserve fuel because they've underfilled. Like idiots we all thought with a 1000hp they'd be sliding out of every corner leaving two black lines at every opportunity, how wrong were we

Only soon we won't be able to call it motorsport either, it'll have to be electric motor sport
