Ok so we all know what the problem with overtaking is so no need to go into details but what about having a standard FIA front wing for everyone in the same way that the tyres are provided as standard?

That’s a good point but how could you rationalise the position of each car on the start grid then?

Also, for al those saying they are against a spec wing because it’s a »spec » part, what about the tyres? They’re Spec aren’t they?

When I said standard wing, I wasn’t discounting a standard design and didn’t necessarily mean a standard issue one used by everyone.

It’s really not a big deal is it? Just put in place a set of rules which means it must be a one piece affair with no complicated bits (no air allowed to pass through it?).

The effect on allowing the car behind to stay close through bends would surely help to allow a return to the closer racing of the good old days.

I don’t think this would go against the spirit of F1.

The multi-element front wing is a bogeyman and reducing the downforce of the front wing will make racing worse but the tail is wagging the dog and F1 is buckling to fan pressure.
Are you suggesting that the inability of cars to follow closely behind others through curves is not due to the turbulence of the car in front interfering with the performance of the front wing of the car behind?

Obviously it’s going to be multifactorial but what’s the most significant factor then?
