...isn't a name that younger readers may know , unless they are well informed enough on Formula 1 history to know about the Ensign team . Mo has died , sadly , and made a great contribution to the sport with his F3 , then F1 cars and latterly he worked in Indy Cars , for Chip Ganassi and in his own right . He was one of that wonderful breed of British 'can do' practical engineers - see also Derek Bennett , Eric Broadley and so many others - whose cars so often punched above their weight.

Sadly , Clay Reggazoni was seriously hurt in an Ensign F1 at Long Beach but team drivers are a who's who of GP racing - including Amon , Piquet , Ickx, Lammers, Surer and Daly. And Tiff Needell too... I first saw the team at Rufforth , the long lost track near York , when they were competing in their own very pretty F3 car
