Especially the lunatic "chance of overtake" b*llocks. I mean; WTF are Liberty doing?

Have you seen the "chance of overtake" one?
It's the equivalent of being told what's clearly on the screen. It adds zero information even to a new viewer, and more importantly, it denies them the opportunity to view the images and have an opinion based in their own learning.
Now a fake AI (fk me that's an annoying, inaccurate term) will tell you that overtake was 67% possible, mean it will now be "fact".

Granted the ‘chance of overtake’ graphic crap. Quite like the other graphics though
Thing is they are all derived and inferred, but presented as hard facts, and as though real time data from the cars, which people know is available, and will therefore assume to have the same status.

Do you not watch other sports? Plenty of analytics knocking around.
True, but this isn't analysis.

There's a difference between this and say;

a) time spent in opponents 22 in rugby,
b) statistical win / loss records, batting averages,
c) distance run by a player in a football match.

Those are real measures and genuine, inarguable data to assist the (deluded) masses who think / are told sport is "improved" by instant betting and, more importantly, to the interested fan who just likes data about their sport.

This "insight" stuff is not based on real live data from the teams (if so, my problems with it would be severely lessened) - are the teams really going to provide real live tyre temperatures out to the rest of the world? And how the hell can there be real live "measure" of tyre wear during the race. The more I think about it, the car "performance" one annoys the crap out of me as much as the overtake one.

Or this seems appropriatehehe

Thanks DeeSee, seen it before several times.

Ok - give up - you're all right - it's fantastic, doesn't demean the sport in anyway, is an absolutely true, live representation of facts.

This season hasn't needed any of that to make it interesting - it needed tension between Merc and Ferrari - it needed tension between Verstappen and everyone else - it needed Horner's constant bullst.

Not silly graphics.

Ignore the fact Brawn is incredibly careful with his words in that speech - I mean, lots of things are implied, but not stated.

1. There are data points.
2. We use machine learning.
(implication=) Therefore graphics are representations of data points (never actually said), and therefore facts.

I am immensely disappointed they have chosen to waste their efforts on pointless graphics instead of spending the same money making the actual racing interesting. Which would render the graphics pointless, again.

..also - that actually made me laugh at myself, as I realise that F1 / Liberty will do whatever they want regardless.

Still, it's my time and my pixels ;-)

Read all about it. Read all about it.

F1 fan in "I want it how I remember it being when it was actually different to how I remember it, but it was new to me and my life was generally easier then." Shocker.
No. Not at all - you've made some massively incorrect assumptions there, chum.

I love the new V6 hybrid engines.
Don't want a return to refuelling.
Believe all this tyre-wear b*llocks is just that - read any F1 driver's autobiog and they will tell you the same.
Find the tower on the left hand side of the screen useful, now I'm not paying for the F1 app.
Admire the intent of halo, if not the actual execution.
Respect the engineering that goes into making the cars massively safer, while signifcantly faster (give or take)

The point is F1 needs to do even more to change going forwards, not less , and not on poitnless graphics.Even with this level of change, it still risks dying / wandering into irrelevance, and that would make me sad.

Oh, and things, I really want F1 to embrace;
18/19" wheels ASAP
Fully enclosed cockpits (it can be done)
Gradual amalgamation of F1 and LMP1 WEC cars - if you can't see that the ideal race series is a series of sprints / grand prix / endurance races (possibly all over a 3 day weekend) for all the top manufacturers and drivers, in the same car (reduced costs, travel, development, simplified rules) to deliver the very best driver / manufacturer.......different championships for each, overall champion....

So, no, not interested in the past.
