Monza travel advice

I'm going to a wedding near Como the day after the Italian GP, so will fly out on the Saturday, go to the race on the Sunday, and the wedding on the Monday night.

I want to get back from the race quite sharpish on the Sunday night, so am thinking of driving to a railway station north of Monza and getting a train, as I expect that after the race the vast majority of people will be heading south to Milan.

Has anyone got any on the ground experience which would tell me if this is a good idea.
