Formula 1 has today announced the launch of a new F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix series, featuring a number of current F1 drivers. The series has been created to enable fans to continue watching Formula 1 races virtually, despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation that has affected this season’s opening race calendar.

The virtual races will run in place of every postponed Grand Prix, starting this weekend with the Virtual Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday March 22. Every subsequent race weekend will see the postponed real-world Formula 1 race replaced with a Virtual Grand Prix*, with the initiative currently scheduled to run until May**.

Has anyone checked the hardware Ferrari will be using...
I just hope they take part. In fact I hope all the teams encourage their drivers to join in.

I watched a race last night that Alex Albon, Charles LeClerc, George Russell and a bunch of others took part in and I was disappointed at Lando Norris behaviour during it. Firstly he got held up in qualifying by a car that had run out of fuel so deliberately crashed into him a number times (for a bit of fun). This earned him a 5 second grid penalty so he moaned until the majority agreed to redo qualifying.
At the race start there was a big crash which put him at the back. He then campaigned for a restart but was ignored so he simply quit out of the game like a spoilt brat.
I know it’s only a game but this happened to be an organised event to raise money for charity (covid19 related) and a lot of the viewers/donators were there to see him race.

I play F1 2019 on a PS4 and find it’s all I need. It’s as much of a simulator as I need. Once you turn all assists off and select manual gears and get into the car setup side of things it is pretty involved. For those who dismiss this as a game and not a simulator can you explain why?

I use a Logitech g29 wheel and pedals and have been playing it a lot over the last few weeks. I always considered myself to be a pretty good driver and was pretty good a karting in my younger days but I cannot get anywhere near course lap records playing this. It’s made me realise I am probably just an average driver when it comes to racing.

The most annoying thing is online races where other players out brake themselves and punt you off the track at turn 1. I now spend most of my time chasing lap times.
