Who's going to Silverstone this year?
Discussion
Anyone?
I've just booked an Air BnB for Friday and Saturday night. Not sure how things will be by July, I am hoping I will either be back at work (cruise ships) or able to get back to NYC to be with Mrs. Guitar, but the air BnB is cancellable until the 15th of July, so nothing to lose by booking. if I go I think I will go for a 'Vale' grandstand seat which is £295.

I am truly staggered by how much money people re prepared to pay to see an F1 race, it genuinely amazes me.
I know, it's crazy, isn't it!?I think if it all goes ahead as 'normal' this year though, it will be well worth it. I can imagine it being a spectacular place to be for the weekend, people will be delirious to be able to just have their freedom and a great weekend away.
I've never added up the money I've spent on going to GP weekends, but I suspect it would be enough to get me a very decent car...

I've booked Silverstone and it'll be my first ever live race. Initially tried to do it as cheaply as possible, but then realised I really didn't fancy the general admission queues from 0600 so decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to a grandstand ticket. The difference between GA and grandstand isn't too steep, but children go free with GA so by the time I'd paid for the daughters seat the overall cost was pretty outrageous by the end.
I think we'll only do Silverstone once, in future seasons when all restrictions are lifted we'd prefer to go to some races abroad and get something out of the trip other than the F1 itself. Added bonus being the tickets seem more reasonably priced at other circuits! I really fancy Baku for some reason.
That's a really wise decision to get grandstand seats. You're free to view from any of them on Friday and Saturday, and then for the race, you can show up a few minutes before the start to take your seat, which really does remove a vast amount of stress.I think we'll only do Silverstone once, in future seasons when all restrictions are lifted we'd prefer to go to some races abroad and get something out of the trip other than the F1 itself. For the price being charged these days I just don't see the value in Silverstone, I don't even think it's one of the best places for spectators.
I agree, it is not particularly good value, but it's likely to be the only option we have for a while yet. It's possible to make a case that it is not terrible value if you attend on all 3 days. I've also done quite a few weekends at Spa, Monza, Barcelona, France, etc. They all have their pros and cons, but I'd say the overall Silverstone experience is pretty good. The circuit itself is a very good one, much better than Catalunya or Magny Cours, although it's disappointing that most of the viewing areas are a long way from the track. I do think Silverstone has a great atmosphere though when filled with F1 fanatics.

I have no issue with repeating myself, I simply read a bit more and find it yet more staggering lol! I couldn't care less what people think, it is a forum for peoples opinions, so you have to expect on this page a huge swath of fandom, but also the naysayers, I am one of those.
I love a lot of things about F1, but attending races is something I only did very briefly, and even then only qualifying as the sheer expense of attending races was the same cost as a holiday, not quite the same as standing on aggregate for 8 hours watching some drab identikit formula racing and a single make thing, a few air displays (having lived near Scampton this was also drab sorry) queueing for hours, insane food and drink prices meaning I had to drag it all around with me, annoying people everywhere, no atmosphere (I was there in the good times aswell)
To be fair the best bit was people watching, the matching clothing couples, and the awful attire people wore, the wannabe drivers the people trying to get on telly, the drivel coming out of peoples mouths, the incessant cheering every time anyone British drove past even on an in lap.
I guess as I say I am built differently to the majority, I feel for them I really do, but I guess someone has to make money out of this, and that means someone has to hand a bunch of it over.

Thanks , I believe that it only one ticket. Unless there’s another post.
Yes, that was me. It sold on the bay of the E yesterday. I took a quick sale at cost price, I think I probably could have made more but there was a solid offer from someone who paid immediately, so all good. I am gutted I am not going to be attending.LukeBrown66 said:
Lol, will likely be far more interesting than the stuff you are paying 300 quid for,
I am moving to the area the week beforehand, Thank God before the races, I would never dream of going there, but thankfully will be all done by then and can tune out the drivel
