On race Sundays, my wife and I have decided that for lunch we are going to make something from the host country.

So, we are planning on cooking shrimp on the barbie for Australia.

Anyone else want to join and share their creations/abominations?!

I’m sure I remember some else doing this years back, or it could have been having a drink from the host country?

Fun idea though, might dip in and out of it rather than commit to a full season
I doubt we'll do a full season. There are some countries where I have no idea where to even begin!

We get this every Tuesday at work if it's a race weekend, the hot options are themed to the host country.

If you're really keen I don't imagine it'd be a problem to give the thread some suggestions if I rememebr hehe
Presumably you work for a F1 team?!

It could be useful for ideas and enough time to work out where to get some of the potentially less common ingredients!

I'm guessing you know that no-one does put shrimp on a barbie here (shrimp isn't a thing in Aus)...

If you want a decent meal, try a chicken parma https://www.taste.com.au/recipes/easy-chicken-parm...
Yes, I was aware that shrimp on the barbie was not a traditional Aussie dish. That being said, this is light hearted fun - not anything serious. If there was a race in Ukraine, we may have a chicken kiev for example.

He's not on PH but my sisters ex always used to make sure he had a couple of beers in from whichever country was hosting the F1 that weekend ready for the race. Some definitely took more commitment than others to find
Wonder what he’d have got for Saudi!

We used to do similar at work, between 2 or 3 of us: one large rotisserie roasted chicken, one french baguette, and a pot of coleslaw. Made for a big, juicy, delicious sandwich each, followed by the slightly primal joy of picking morsels of meat off the chicken carcass for the rest of the afternoon yum

Not sure if that magnificent combination could be shoehorned in to any particular country's cuisine mind. Combination of British, French and American perhaps, and therefore apt for all those races?

Nevertheless, I'm quite tempted to roast me a whole chicken for the next F1 race, add to the baguette and slaw, and see how far through it I can get without assistance! biggrin
Gotta be French. Baguette, eh!

Looks to be:

Grilled snag, marinated chicken thigh & slow cooked lamb shoulder served with corn on the cob

I didn't know what a snag was either. It's slang for a beef or pork sausage getmecoat
Sounds quite yummy!

But I’m sticking with shrimp on the barbie!

Anyone else in??

A day late, but as the F1 started at 1am, I wasn’t too concerned!

Australia- shrimp on the barbie

From top-to-bottom we have my wife’s shrimp seasoning (too spicy for me), Lowry’s seasoning salt and then straight kosher salt.

A few burgers thrown on for good measure - I tried to find some Roo meat, but wasn’t successful so these are just normal cow burgers. Maybe the cows were particularly bouncy?

Ready to roll!
And yummy they were too lick

For this week's race, it'll be Chicken Provolone for Italy along with some cheeky pizza I think!

We had Chicken Provolone today in honor of the Italian GP. I would normally have posted a photo however while tasty, it didn’t look good so I thought I’d spare you!

For today's race, we're indulging in some home made (well, home assembled!) tacos. Yum!

Why Tacos?
Because there are more Hispanics in Miami than any other group and Hispanics eat tacos!

Saving the hood red meat for Austin!

Miami is mainly Cubans. A pulled pork Cuban sandwich would have been more appropriate. lick
I think about half the Hispanics are Cuban.

Doesn’t really matter - just some fun… thumbup
