Round 6 and we’re back to more familiar territory- Spain. The teams know the circuit like the back of their hands, so expect a lot of upgrades. No real clues from pre-season testing as it was a Mercedes 1-2 (!), but my money is again on Max and Red Bull, who really seem to be coming on strong. Ferrari is due its first major upgrade, will it be enough?

Here’s to another great race.

Date(s): Friday 20 May to Sunday 22 May 2022.

UK Broadcast Timings (and local time)

All sessions are live on Sky F1. Qualifying and the race are shown as highlights on Channel 4.

Live timing for all sessions available here:

https://www.formula1.com/en/f1-live.html

Lap times, PU component use, technical reports and Stewards' decisions for the weekend will appear here:

https://www.fia.com/events/fia-formula-one-world-c...

Weather forecast:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/3128760

Tyre options:

Pirelli has chosen the three hardest tyres, so C1, C2 and C3. The old Q2 tyre rule is scrapped for 2022.

Think this will be a Ferrari track, so CLC to win unless he had a brain fart.

Plus I think there's a large car update coming for Ferrari.
Ferrari and Aston Martin will both be significant, according to the rumour mill. Aston effectively a B spec car.

Brake failure apparently.
It didn't look like brake failure!

What do we think Mercedes will do this weekend? Some speculation that it will back-to-back the original and zero side pods in practice, that would be quite a thing.

Also, Twitter says that the updated Aston Martin will go to Stroll not Vettel in Spain- that cannot be true!

Interesting RB/Merc comparison

Really shows the funky RB front suspension and how much floor the Mercedes has (flapping about)

Should they get multiple 1-2s in Qualy and Race trim like Merc 2014-2020, then can you be relatively confident that one car is a level above.

I'm not sure this is true. Perez is a solid number two driver, but very much a number two driver nonetheless. There are also persistent doubts as to whether or not RB produces two of the same cars at each event.

Any photographic evidence of that this year? Would be easy to see if there are any differences given the FIA mandated show and tell sessions.

What does number 2 driver mean in this context? How do you have any non subjective basis to decide if Sainz is better than Perez or visa versa? It's all relative guess work until they're in the same team or can be judged against a constant.

There's more actual evidence to suggest Albon is better than Russell based on their relative performance to Latifi for example.

Albon.... is he a decent 2023 DR replacement at McLaren?

I think if DR is out at McLaren they will almost certainly go for Colton Herta as his replacement.
I’d say Gasly

Tracing Point.. I mean Aston certainly got the tracing paper out again, bloody hell that's pretty shameless rofl

Be hilarious if it's worse than before.

Shameless copying. It’s a hard team to like.

What an interesting P2, Mercedes looking much faster with less porpoising- it could be a proper three team fight for pole later today. RB looking top in the long runs by a long way.

Hamilton is trimmed out for overtakes on the straight, much higher top speed at the end of the main straight than his rivals.
Your numbers relate to Q1, where Hamilton got a tow. In Q3 final run, Russell was 4kph faster (@320kph).

Afraid to say I enjoyed seeing AM out in Q1 having copied a design they don't seem to understand. A bit of natural justice.

Because there is no way they had the time to fabricate all that in three weeks or even three months. Your assertion they did is why Jesus is unhappy. biggrin

Personally I don't care one way or another, it mildly amuses me, the frenzy about it. What amazes me is the sweeping generalisations and statements like they're fact on here.
I'm no seeing any frenzy, where's the frenzy?
