After yesterday’s race and then comments coming out of the Mercedes camp that Verstappen should win all 24 races, then it looks like the only real racing will be middle order battles. I have cancelled my subscription anyone else

You cancelled your subscription after the first race of the season? Based on that one race and comments from Mercedes?

I mean....it looks bleak in terms of competitiveness but let's give it a bit of a chance.

To answer your question, if there's further Red Bull dominance, I will much more likely revert to my year 2010-2013 tactic of recording the race live and only actually watching it if I know something interesting happens.

But I'd actually be surprised if F1 allowed Red Bull to dominate in such a fashion.

Think about all those new fans off the back of Netflix - are the Johnsons from middle America going to watch a race series where the same guy/team win every race? I don't think so.

2021 showed the lengths they'll go to in order to make it a 'show'

Not totally on this result. I had looked long and hard at the season build up, this race just confirmed my suspicions. No way will I miss it

I did enjoy Lewis winning his titles and when Max came in to F1 up and till last season the duels at the front made for great racing. Last season was tedious with not much of a challenge to RB so we think Merc will come back, but no it looks like they threw the towel in already.

It does feel a bit like ‘If my man isn't winning I’m leaving’.
Not at all I am no fanboy just what to see some close racing at front as well as the middle order, after all it is the pinnacle of Motorsport.

On another note a friend of mine informed me after discovering the increase of his annual visit to Silverstone for this years race is out of the question. Camping and four day ticket is astronomical even from last years price.

Three or four seasons ago every race was eagerly anticipated on the pretext of first corner mayhem due Hamilton and his usual protagonist’s back then. Max came along, he like Lewis back in day has the best car now but there is no one even close. Let’s revisit this thread in 6 races time

I really do wonder if the drivers' championship should have a separate race, using an identical, standard car and the constructor's championship being based on the teams' cars. So two races each weekend.

100% guarantee the racing would be exciting in the identical cars. And it wouldn't be expensive as the cars would be identical.
Always said that would be a great addition to the weekend racing, never happen though.

My dream would be Top end budget cap, that’s it no restrictions just race, but then there would no need for the FIA. What a great idea.
