What the hell shape are some people?

VW collected my car and brought it back yesterday after getting a bit of work done. When it came back, the drivers seat was at it's lowest setting and really reclined. I'm 6'4" and I couldn't comfortably drive it like that, even my gibbon-like upper appendages were stretching to the point of shoulder-dislocation manoeuvering in the car park.

I see it all the time actually, usually young guys in shopping hatches. How is it comfortable? How can they see? How can they even fking drive like that?!

What's to understand? Sitting with the seat so low and laidback that you a) restrict your view, and b) are stretching to reach the wheel, isn't a good idea.

Unless it turns out they're disabled and don't have an arse or something, I fail to see what we're missing.
I suppose he could have been 8' tall.

That's exactly as I have my seat set when I drive. 6' 5" with long legs and mr tickle arms. It's what feels comfortable to me. Any higher and my head hits the roof, and closer and my hands catch my knees in most cars.
Have you driven a mk v golf? There's a huge amount of range in the movement of the seat, more so than in my previous car, a w211 e-class. I'm 6'4" with 34" inside leg and stupidly long arms. M+S 2" longer shirts (yeah, yeah i know, i buy cheapo shirts for work) are only just long enough for me.

With the seat in the position it was when the car was returned to me I couldn't depress the pedals right down and could only just curl the top knuckles of my fingers around the top of the steering wheel. Certainly nowhere close to be able to put my wrists on the top of the wheel which is how i usually adjust the wheel to suit.

Anyway, I'm jumping to the immediate conclusion that it was either a complete tool who was driving my car (which also makes me wonder in what manner he was driving my car. Red-line upshifts in a 30mph zone?) or Sun Mingming. And I don't think he works for VW in Aberdeen... wink
