Would a failing head gasket leak oil?

As the title says really...

I have another thread which has seemed to has run it's course about an oil leak I am suffering:

The car is leaking oil down the back of the engine at an alarming rate and I'm wondering if its coming from the head gasket.

I have checked the following and eliminated them as a suspect:
- Rocker Cover gasket
- Turbo oil feed
- Turbo oil return
- Various other oil feeds

I had a service 3 weeks ago and since then have put 3 litres of oil in to keep it topped up!!

I just can't figure out where it's coming from

ETA - car is a VW Bora 1.9Tdi PD130 142k miles FVWSH
