Yawn - another Porsche that hey surprise looks the same!
Discussion
Matc - I agree completely, some people love it others can't stand it.
From what leadership at Zuffenhausen say they concerned that they need another car to compete specifically against Ferrari and also I would assume Lambo:

And what I read into it is that that car will definitely not be a 911 variant....

Why would they want to compete with Lambo, they are part of the same group.
The new Porsche boss I understand sees them all as "Italians" and therefore would accept some product cannibalisation.I've seen this attitude in fortune 100 companies many times, down to personalities and egos.
A constructive response to the majority of the intelligent and good natured comments:
Design boffins were hoping that that new 911 would be an evolutionary step towards the widely well received design of the 918 Hybrid, a more exotic shape considered on par aesthetically with Italian marques according to Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller.

Ah, "sample of one" thinking. I see now how you jump to such asinine conlusions as you demonstrate in your OP.
Also don't be shocked, there are many other people on this site who have posted more than me and in less time, but still, I'm glad that you have taken an interest at least.

Your posts have recently raised the following topics, none of which relates to motoring and received understandably poor responses from the community:
Topic Responses
"Wisdom tooth pain" (6)
"Avoiding the post lunch lull" (14)
"Cannot log in to pistonheads mobile" (3)
And now at 20:00 cet since yesterday you've posted an additional 23 (correction now 21:49 cet - 27 new) messages on the forum, like I said impressive.
With all your experience on the forum when replying particularly to someone who is starting out you should exercise some self control in order to encourage open communication and community spirit. If everybody replied as you do the forum risks turning into another Wikipedia debacle: a core of listless nerds cock blocking everybody for their special interests and person opinion.

I'm 42, full head of Brown hair. Brand new GTS 80K, I just used it for two weeks touring in Scotland, two up with all our bags and two sets of golf clubs. I do not need to show my wealth, I just want to drive fast and have fun. Not sure how you could match that in a Lambo.
Now, when I buy a 458 or an MP4 I may be old and grey.
Tuffer, generally I'm with Superman but I know it's a gross generalisation....Now, when I buy a 458 or an MP4 I may be old and grey.
The guys I've seen driving 458 are by no means the same group that drives porkers..
One of my very best friends from Wilmslow has a 997 S4 (or whatever) and he loved it, I drove it and it was a cracker but it still looked like a dog to me....

It pleases me that many people don't like the 911. It is unique in it's configuration and yet so well honed it has been the benchmark against which all other sportscars have been measured for the past 40 years.
What doesn't please me is when people don't understand the 911. Any and every true petrolhead with any grasp of engineering should appreciate why the car is as it is. The configuration, the years of perfectng an imperfect ideology, evolution not revolution. You don't have to like it, indeed you probably shouldn't like it as a car or the fact it looks like every other 911 that's ever been. However, to be so ignorant as to not understand why this is the case and then to go on to proudly shout about that ignorance marks you out as a bit of plank and means you're on the wrong forum.
To blandly quote Clarkson about "the laziest designers," "the engine in the wrong place," or the most ignorant of all - "that great big pendulum hung out the back," doesn't give you any caché as a petrolhead or engineering enthusiast. It just makes you look a tool on a forum where people should celebrate such ideologies. Again, you may genuinely dislike the car and can genuinely claim that you wouldn't have one even if it was a gift and that's great, it really is, but to spout ignorance for what the car stands for demonstrates a lacking on your part, not that of Porsche.
Brewster, I think you are referencing prior posts. I have never said booo about the technical qualities of Porkers and have commented that it drives very well. I am only referring to the styling which I think is tired. What doesn't please me is when people don't understand the 911.
