With all that's been going on in recently in Trollhättan it seems that dealers cant give away the cars they have on their forecourts at the moment and looking on the net there are now huge discounts offered on new ones.

I have owned SAABs for years and even though they are a Marmite car, I can't fault the reliabilty and ability to clock up great miles in comfort.

Currently considering a 2008 low miles 9-3 Aero TTid Convertible with the new twin turbo engine, OK, its not a BMW beater but I think with the way things are going, both that and say the new 9-5's are a lot of car and if they can picked up for say.. 30% less than their competitors would you get one?

How cheap would they need to get before you considered one?

If it is all GM running gear and no SAAB specific stuff under the cars skin. I would be tempted just now.
In the past, used seemed better value as they had already lost a great chunk, but with the discounts on new ones (you can get a new 9-5 for less than 10K list) it changes things I think.

How strange, I'm considering the exact same car and was on the phone to a dealer about one yesterday... Is it yellow?

I decided that I'm gonna wait a bit but haven't discounted it yet. Some great deals about as you say. I think the writing is on the wall for Saab but it doesn't put me off buying a used car in principle. I think the prices will drop a bit more when they do inevitably fold but maybe firm up a bit when everyone catches up for a bit of perceived bargain hunting...
Not quite decided on the colour yet, but I fancy an auto with a remap
