Car Tax explained

I was under the impression that cars registered up to somewhere around 2006 fell into the older blanket tax banding style of £260 for 12 months. ]
But from what it looks like on the Govt. website, now appears that that has changed again and all cars from 2001 in the K band are dry bummed taxed at £440 per year.

Have I got that right?

oddly enough, now is probably one of the best times to buy a 2005 gas guzzling 4x4 or V8 or similar.

taxes on such cars are only going to rise and these cars are still relatively new (imo).

so it's my excuse to go after something big and daft next!
