Most complete car?

What's the most complete car out there (old or new)? Is there really anything out there that can do everything? i.e. looks good, fast, fun, practical, comfortable on a long haul, not out of place on a track day, not too ruinous to run etc.

I'm sure like most of you, ideally I would have at least 5 cars to to meet all my requirements but this isn't really financially viable and I don't have the space, so if you had to make do with one car for the rest of your driving days, what would it be?

My Impreza WRX Estate is the best all-rounder that I have owned, although it is neither the best looking, most fun or comfortable car that I have owned and although it is the fastest car that I have owned and above average in terms of space, there are plenty of faster cars out there.

I accept that there will be some limitations ie there aren't really any really practical convertibles and you can't expect one car to be amazing off-road and fantastic on a track (although a Porsche Cayenne may come close even if it looks hideous)!

So what's the most complete car out there (old or new)? Golf GTI? M3/M5? Range Rover? Or is it impossible for a car to be excellent in some respects without being compromised in other ways?

my e39 M5 did 35k miles in 3 years and although it is out hp'd by many cars these days, back in 2001 it was the car. It did ski trips, track days, house moves, daily work runs, drag strips, general st and did a Calais - Nice run in under 7 hours.

It had it's vanos replaced, sat nav unit replaced, 2x chocolta clutches (both under warranty), lots of tyres (not under warranty!) and that was it. A truely great (manual) all rounder.

Off to the classifieds now.........
I thought that this might be a popular choice. It's interesting that no-one has mentioned the newer M5s. Is this because the performance to running cost ratio on the E39 was spot on or are the later models too big, complicated and potential moneypits!

335i touring would be nice IMO. 550i touring?
Don't forget that you can get the M3 as a 4 door saloon!
