blue heat stained exhaust

I am currently watching an MR2 cat back exhaust on ebay however it has significant heat staining (blueing). Would this blueing damage the exhaust or would it just affect the aesthetics.

Its a stainless steel exhaust, its the box section that has gone blue the tips of the tail pipes are still shiny stainless.
