Got a 2001 vintage jag sov with a leaping cat on the bonnet - a mate's told me this is illegal - is this true?

At work now so sorry if I can't reply to replies til later tonight.

Gonna look at mine tonight. I think it's solid and I'll have to get a new bonnet. Arse!

I remember now the chap who sold me the car said his deceased dad had a mascot put onto one of the jags he owned. Must be this one. The mascot is a fair way back on the bonnet so probably ticks that box but is solid as a rock. I guess this is therefore a mod from the insurance perspective and they'd take me up the arse if I informed them that I wanted it accounted for and so unless anyone knows different or some other way round the hole in the bonnet that would be there upon removal then it's new bonnet time.

Any ideas? Can I shove something else there that wouldn't look st?

Would replacing it with a round badge look st or you think I can get away with it? I fear for the condition of the bonnet under the short oblong plinth under the cat and also the prospect of opening up a place for rusting. Any sensible tips on what you'd seal it up with to prevent water ingress and rust?
