trying to change the head gasket on a peugeot 306 and need to remove the drive belt to get at the timing belt, tried to take of the manually adjusted pulley to slacken the drivebelt but the bloody bolt rounded off and now I can't take it off!!!

what do i do ?? im thinking about just cutting off the drivebelt and buying a new one and just worry about the pulley later?

but how would i remove this bolt? its in real tight space.

thanks
Gawri

instead of loosening the belt, is it possible to remove one of the accessories like power steering pump, so that there is a lot of slack on the belt? is that not possible ?

Cut the belt off, remove the head and you'll have a damn sight more room to work to remove the damaged bolt.
That. Worst case you can take it to an engineering shop and get them to sort it.
This both times. Cut and replace the aux belt, get the head off and give yourself loads of room to tackle the swine. Don't forget that if you really get stuck the engine isn't hard to drop down a few inches for access. smile
hopefully i dont have to drop the engine out, lol i spent all my cash on tools cause i had nothing before lol
