Hi chaps

Looking at a run of the mill replacement for the wife's daily and the Qasquai has popped into the search. I'm finding it pretty tough finding decent petrol examples and most seem to be diesel. Now, the wife does a fair bit of town work, commuting 12 miles each way plus the occasional motorway blast to visit family.

Anyone got any experience of the engine, in either 1.5 or 2.0 flavour, particularly in the Qasquai? Is it generally reliable? Chain or belt and if belt, what are the intervals. Also, can the SPF be easily removed if required, I've had a poor experience with an early Mazda PDF with an encrypted ecu that couldn't be removed....

All opinions welcome and merry christmas one and all

The 1.5dCi is the K9K engine and different to the 2.0 litre!
Cool, so which in generally considered the more reliable? the wife doesn't care about power so I'm concerned about buying the right one.

To the ecu expert who mentioned bypass, how much typically am I looking at to bypass?

I have the 1.5 dCi in my work Clio III (06-reg ). Over the 120,000 miles covered so far it's needed one injector replaced and that's it. I think it's a good little engine.
What do you think it would look like in something the size of the qashqai?

If you want one with a Diesel engine get the 1.6 instead, a much much better engine, far quieter and lots more poke to it.
Way out of our budget sadly

Cam belts can go inside the service interval...
On the 1.5? From what I read the others are all chain, which would be a preference....
