£100K Garage: Tim Ford

Triumph, Porsche and Jag for daily duties with a BMW for track use!

Name: Tim Ford
Previously owned: Austin 1800, MGB Roadster, Mini Cooper S, BMW E46 M3, Rover SD1 Touring Car, Lotus Elite
Currently owned: Range Rover Sport, Porsche 911 (991), Alfa Romeo 156 Touring car replica
On the shortlist: Jaguar E-type S2, Porsche 911 RS, Aston Martin V8 Vantage (1980s), Ferrari 355 GTS

70s: Triumph TR6
Cost
: £37,500
Balance: £62,500
Why I chose it: "I always wanted a Jaguar E-type but I couldn't get it to work with the budget for the one I want! Have always loved TR6s and this one looks epic - triple Webber 2.5 straight-six from Racestorations. It will go like the clappers, handle and stop. I love classic cars and have no issues modifying them like this. Look at it!"

80s: Porsche 911 3.2 Targa
Cost
: £29,990
Balance: £32,510
Why I chose it: "Got to have a 911 and this one is a beauty! Great for taking the other half and our two boys out on a sunny day. The TR6 is for the early Sunday morning blast. Its the 3.2 and the nice gearbox." [Unfortunately, Tim's original choice was sold and it was replaced with this red example - N.A]

90s: BMW 328i
Cost
: £3,295
Balance: £29,215
Why I chose it: "I have always loved BMWs and I need to have a track car as part of the bunch. I was thinking of converting this to a Listerine Tim Harvey replica with a manual box. I appreciate it's a six-cylinder but you also need the noise on the track and this would sound superb at full chat!"

00s: Jaguar XKR
Cost
: £27,990
Balance: £1,225
Why I chose it: "Again, always been a fan of these. Great looking car, it's the five-litre V8 with the flappy paddles, proper mile muncher, incredible noise, comfort and a bit of useful family space. I also liked the idea of an Aston V8 Vantage but there wasn't enough money for the one I wanted! This I suspect would get more use anyway."
