First world problems, I know...

My dad currently has a 1 year old Range Rover Sport and a Defender 110 that's coming up for 3. Both are great cars in their own right and suit his needs, the RRS is the comfortable cruiser and the Defender is used for shopping etc.

Only problem now is, he's ordered a DB11 which we are collecting next weekend...so I've been trying to work out which of the cars needs to go as he doesn't use the two he has already (RRS done nearly 6k and the 110 not even done 10k!)

I think he should sell the Defender and just use the RRS for daily duties, and DB11 for special occasions, however he finds it a bit big for parking (but since when was a 110 easy to park?)

Thought about chopping the RRS and Defender in for something like an F-Pace but the RRS is a brilliant car and we'd be very sad to see it go, especially so soon.

Any thoughts?

Yes. I have thoughts.

They're his cars. If he has the means and the space then he can do what he wants?
Sorry should've said, he's thinking the same as me, having three is a bit excessive so I'm just asking other people's opinions on the matter.

Thanks, interesting responses!

I like the idea of a Leaf or something for shopping but I expect that he would say if he were to change any of the cars it would be changing two for one. I'd like to see the RRS used more as I feel it is wasted just sitting on the drive.

The problem with the RRS is it fills both briefs of the 110 and DB11 to a certain extent, it's powerful enough, comfy and practical, so it's diicult trying to work out what to change it for. I personally love it so am trying to keep hold of it for as long as possible!

I wouldn't think 3 cars is too many if he actually used them, it's just a waste them sitting around and diesels especially don't like that... I feel that the RRS could fulfill daily duties and the DB11 could be the special car.

A Disco Sport would be a good replacement for both LR'S due to it being a bit smaller, but no petrol option as yet. frown

Chop both the RRS and 110 in for an SVR RRS. biggrin
I tried that! He said that the DB11 fills the powerful car criteria. frown

The RRS is an SDV6 and it's just a superb all rounder, I'd just like to see it used to its potential.

If he doesn't go off road then get shot of the Defender. RRS is way better on the road.
That's the thing, he doesn't really, just uses it to go shopping and I feel it's a waste. The RRS (or any other car) could do all the Defender does in more comfort and use less fuel! He's just scared about it being dinged but it has been already and it's not even used much.

Plus with the £30k from the Defender that will pay for a lot of ding repairs!

I have no problem with 3 cars, more the better but it's just that the RRS and Defender fill the same brief, so I don't really see the point in having both.

Thanks for all the replies. smile

Haha not to worry, tbh it is a bit of a silly thread but just wondered if any other people shared my opinion! I think if the cars all fulfil a different purpose, 3 isn't too many, but seeing as they are modern cars (and being diesel) lack of use can cause issues in the long run. It's in the cars best interest to be driven. wink

Pictures needed of that DB11 please, post in the AM section.
Will do, unfortunately it's only in grey (see 'Cobalt Blue on a DB11' thread biggrin ) but should be a nice looking car nevertheless.

For the OP's question, as above, if no off road driving then dump the 110 as they are bloody awful as a road car anyway.

Yes this was what I was thinking, surely a Range Rover can't be harder to maneuver around town than a Land Rover which has a turning circle of a 747! It's just not used enough and I can't even fit in it anymore (not enough leg room). Plus I feel it's a shame for it to just drive around town, it's not what it was designed for.
