So I got myself into a bit of trouble today. Ms Shost, who I've been with for 5+ years has been struggling with no power window on drivers side for over 2 years (apparently), and no stereo, 12v and blue tooth on her Aygo along with some cosmetic damage and niggles.

I fixed them all in 5 mins. Replaced switch for window and a single fuse took care of rest. Prized off a badly scuffed bumper rub moulding which I will paint along with new mirror casing and re fit. And showed her how to fix boot latch when it sticks. Total time <30mins and I'll probably spend an hour or so painting the trim parts at a later date.

She was then very angry with me as the faults were so easy to fix. I cannot honestly say why I hadn't done so sooner having had both time, tools and opportunity. My only defence is I thought she had taken window fault to a garage who couldn't fix it. But really I should have checked that. I'm not sure if I've gained or lost man points overall!

Great responses! I would have taken more time over it but she was sort of helping passing me tools from the box in my idea of getting her involved. So there was no hiding my surprise when the window started working for example.

She later told me how four blokes at one garage had attempted to fix it but couldnt. (The pass window works - the switches are interchangeable - so I don't know why they didn't swap them as you'd want driver side working...)

Anyway she is ultimately very grateful and acknowledged that I took on the work without her asking as such just mentioning it in ear shot as they do! But I am still miffed with myself as to why I didn't fix it earlier!
