If insuring a second car with the same insurer as your primary car, on a mirrored no claims policy, what happens if you make a claim on the 2nd policy?

I understand the 2nd car is not strictly "using" the no claims discount, and the insurance provider is simply offering the same level of discount on the 2nd car, but what happens if you make a claim on that 2nd car policy?

Is your primary policy affected? (beyond the fact you need to declare you've made a claim in x years)

Do you loose your 8 years no claims discount on the primary vehicle policy??

Given the 2nd car wasn't actually truly using your certified no claims, can you continue to benefit from it after the claim? Ie there was never really a "no claims" discount in the first place to be reset to zero.

This is all hypothetical I'm pleased to say, but keen to understand it.

Curiously, a mirrored policy with my current (reputable) insurer (8 years NCD) is slightly more than I've found using a comparison site and zero NCD. But admittedly that's with a company I've never heard of.
