Hakosuka in South Africa: Time For Tea?

Just how did one of the best kept Hakosukas in existence end up in Africa?

When thinking of the custodians of the world's biggest and best car collections, names like Jay Leno, Nick Mason, Ralph Lauren and Jay Kay are the sort that usually spring to mind. But with a collection of over 100 Datsun and Nissan models, South African timber merchant Freek de Koch has to be included alongside the greats. His haul includes a number of significant models including the 1200GX, 280ZX and 240Z, as well as a few curios, like a Nissan President owned by an actual African president. It is also home to an incredible six GT-Rs, one of which is the focus of the video we have for you today.

You see, Freek's Hakosuka isn't just noteworthy as a near perfect example of the car, it also happens to be the only one in all of Africa. The beautifully shot film focusses on just how, having first started his collection over 15 years ago, Freek managed to finally get his hands on the car. He talks about the process of acquiring it, its heritage, and how people react to seeing it in person. There doesn't seem to be much chance of that for us, but we certainly hope to see more of his epic collection in future!
