I recently bought an 07 Mercedes C180 for my long commute. It's the first auto car I've owned. I've done about 1k miles in it so far so was happy there were no major issues at the purchase.

This evening I was pulling away reasonably briskly from a roundabout onto a dual carriage way, when the traffic ahead started slowing, so I came off the accelerator. The revs were dropping from about 3k back to idle and the car was coasting when the car jolted a bit (like a dodgy gear shift), then when I touched the accelerator it reved like it was in neutral, it took a few seconds before it sorted it's self out and found a gear.

It drove fine for the rest of the drive home.

Is that something to be concerned about?

If it does it again I'd start to be concerned. You get the odd bit of weirdness from new with automatic gearboxes, in my experience, and they often get a bit weirder as they get older. If you can get access to the Mercedes STAR computer system it would be worth getting the codes read though.

I'm pretty sure Mercedes specify fluid changes on their boxes - do you know if it's ever had one carried out (given age/mileage etc.)
I don't know if\when it was done. We have an MB Indi reasonably near so might be worth dropping it in there for its next service. I do 2-3k miles a month so it will be serviced in the next few months.

I assume a 7G box. The early ones were sealed for life supposedly, but MB added an oil change. I think by 07 they were easier to service. Very tricky to do - really need STAR..
No it's a standard 5 speed slush box as far as I'm aware smile
