Good morning,

I am a current 12c owner and have owned all the usual suspects.

It has got to the point now when I'm driving on UK roads I am sh**ing myself giving the car the beans.

100MPH arrives far far too soon and you can not red line after second gear which is frustrating. The police are hiding everywhere because motorists are easy targets which helps the police with their targets (I have inside knowledge).

Track days are expensive and the scenery is not as good.

Maybe the chase for more power, faster, bigger, wider and louder is all wrong?

It must be difficult "downgrading" to an Elise (before Elise owners go mental I used to own one)

That's not how I read the OP. He's asking if they are too fast because he says he sts himself and coppers are behind every hedge. Bt of a pointless thread tbh.

Anyway I'm off for a slow walk ....
Point was that you can not access a modern fast cars potential on the public roads. What is the point of owning an V10 M5, 458 or GT3 for example if you can not enjoy the power, noise and performance because red lining in 3rd never mind 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th gears you are loosing your license. Even over taking in the McLaren is dangerous because it is mental fast with 600BHP!

Same old. True of course.
Question is why don't more people buy more involving cars? Heavy power sells more than fun.
Agree. I might look at Caterhams & Lotus for my next car. I would love to get involved in a cheap race series but I am self employed and do not have the time.

This hasn't suddenly happened overnight so you bought the McLaren knowing this to be the case.

So the question is why did you buy a 200mph+ car that does the legal speed limit in 4 seconds ish or less, and probably in 1st gear, when you knew you wouldn't be able to drive it to even 20% of it's performance potential without it being an issue for you. Sounds like a no brainer to me.

You are now living with the consequences of your actions, a real 1st world issue if ever there was one.

Ha ha. I have wondered that myself now. I think it is because I have reached my affordable pinnacle. Where do I go from here, what next and what suits my desires? I have just been thinking about it and maybe my next car will go back to basics. I am just wondering ever other enthusiasts have went through a similar process.
