I know the famous Audi S3 are a risk, but this much of a risk? or could it be someone who knows me?

I've had it on my drive for 2weeks, put it in Eco-mode from a distance of 1 mile from my home, so nobody hears it. Always parked it in reverse on the drive, so the four exhaust don't give it away, and its black pack so front roughly blends in really nicely.

But still after 2weeks of owning it, I've been woken up to someone trying to break my front door to get in, 3 men.

They first snapped the handle of the porch and then went on to break the front PVC door handle, with the intention to snap the lock. This was at 5am, CCTV was recording them, they pointed at the cameras, house alarm was on and could be seen flashing. but still they tried to enter...Until I woke up turned lights on, ran down the stairs with whatever I could grab, shouting...

What would stop intruders, if Cameras and Alarm did not prevent them?

Also

I found the torch they used and dropped when they ran away and handed it over to the police, what are they chances it still has touch DNA after its been in the rain? It was sealed up in a sandwich bag as soon as I found it to prevent any loss of potential evidence.

I can afford one, I want one as my next car.

But it seriously attracts determined thieves and people who like violence.
I couldn't afford mine, but still went for, it has been my dream car for a while. Sepang Blue with Black Pack, I've given it to a friend to drive till I can get rid of the finance on it and sell

That torch could have a written confession note tucked inside nice and dry, the guys address engraved in it, and when you switch it on cause a bat sign in the sky that brings car criminals from far and wide and our helpful public servants in blue would still give zero fks.
I've got the same feeling, they haven't rang me back in 3days now, I really want to know who tried entering my home

I've heard (dunno if it's true or not) that miscreants have started slapping their own trackers on these when they see them parked up out and about so they can then follow them home and attempt a theft at the most opportune moment.
hmm I will put it on a ramp to see this. I just can't believe, I could be this unlucky, my street has two Golf R's (been here for years) the next street has facelift S3, RS7 and a S8 (been there for at least a year)

answer to the Insurance question, I do have insurance. but I'm not going to blindly let my pride and joy get stolen.

Get this mobile or similar...

Add this app

https://mobile-tracker-free.com/

Pay a garage to wire it into your cars power supply and hide it somewhere on the car such as in the centre console behind the radio.

Then get a tracker professionally fitted. Odds are they will find one but not the other as they will only be expecting you to have 1 tracker fitted as no sane person will pay for two subscriptions.
Will defiantly be looking into this further, Cheers

and also thank you everyone else for your contribution

@JLbowden sorry to hear about your loss and everyone else who has lost to these scums

I'm From Stockport, I ended up selling my S3 a couple of weeks after the near theft

frown

Didn't like parking the car on my drive, became paranoid.

Soo couple of weeks of rotating on random nearby roads, I finally sold the car at huge loss.

the car was huge spec, truly miss it, Sepang blue, 5door DSG with black pack, I told the police about the theft they didn't care I've still got the torch I found and CCTV footage, in fact the police questioned me how I can afford such a car...

Since this thread has popped back up and being the OP, I will update.

I eventually sold my S3, after driving it 40days out of 160 days I owned (The rest of the days it was well hidden, in a garage)

I sold it to a friend, who kept it for almost a year and recently his house also got burgled, but they couldn't find the key for S3, so they took another car which was on the drive.

It was a truly jinxed car!
