When I bought my 2014 Audi S1 I negotiated the next scheduled service to be free of charge ... it's a major one and I dropped it off this morning.

Just had a call to say the Haldex fluids are due which is about £120 and in order to maintain the warranty I need a sunroof service (I assume this is just a clean and grease) and this will cost £85.

Neither is covered free of charge. Christ whatever next!!!

Ask for a service schedule showing where it specifically says this is a requirement. Holding your warranty to ransom like that isn't legal I'm sure.
Just spoken to Audi Customer services and they confirmed it is a requirement!!!!!!!!!!!

If I had a problem with the sunroof and it hadn't been 'serviced' then it wouldn't be covered. I should probably just take the risk but I've authorised the work. I'll be checking it thoroughly to make sure it's been done though!!

Perfectly normal.

You say you negotiated your "next service" free which is what I'm sure they're offering i.e. either a minor or major service at no cost. Neither the Haldex or sunroof services would be covered under either of those.

If you didn't have the sunroof service, the warranty on the sunroof may not remain valid however I don't believe they can void the entire car's warranty as a result. Saying that though, I would imagine a fault with a sunroof could get very expensive, very quickly if out of warranty.
Correct and exactly what they said.

Haldex fluid fair enough I can understand although it's pretty expensive.

I was just shocked as I'd never heard of a sunroof service!

So my 'free' service is still costing me £200. Sounds about right ha!

audi are becoming the masters if piss taking service charges

they charged me £200 for an inspection service on my RS3, i literally paid for a tech to go over my car to find any fault that they could bill me for ... no actually service work carried out, not even an oil change, but a stamp in the book ...

and why have pollen filters suddenly become an 'extra' to be charged on top of the service
Ha! You're basically paying them to find a fault so you can then pay them to fix it. The mind boggles. It's no wonder I don't usually run newish cars.

I just get the feeling they've specified this spurious sunroof service just to recoup some of the 'free' service cost I negotiated.

Has anyone else with an Audi ever been told they need to pay for a sunroof service?!

The sunroof is a panoramic plus tilt and slide but it's nothing more complicated than a bog standard tilt and slide sunroof.

I had it out with them when i collected it with both the service advisor plus the head salesman. They wouldn't budge an inch.

They said the next scheduled maintenance was what they covered (that's what's it said on my paperwork) and it was a coincidence the Haldex and Sunroof needed doing at the same time which is true I suppose .... I just think it's tight and more than a little sneaky.

The major service basically included oil, filters plus spark plugs for £350 with no time allowed for greasing the sunroof.

On the plus side they did replace the key fob battery and fix the sticky passenger electric window FOC.

Isn't this a contradiction ? Aren't those elements an integral part of the service schedule ? If they're not, then there should be no warranty implications.

You're being shafted John from what I can gather.
Agreed ..... but what can I do? They wouldn't budge.

They're all part of the service schedule but in their eyes they're doing three consecutive services all at once.

1. Major service
2. Haldex change
3. Sunroof service.

They paid for the first on the list.
