Sellers that won't tell you what they sold it for

Because you will be the 10th call the seller has received.
I got 2 inquiries when I put the car on Autotrader. One of them resulting in the car being sold.
I can't remember how - but once it was clear that the car had been sold, I had numerous calls asking what I sold it for.
The first one I responded to, after that it got a bit tedious.
Delete your advert when it is sold then? I hadn't a clue it was sold. I got 2 inquiries when I put the car on Autotrader. One of them resulting in the car being sold.

The weirdo here is the person demanding to know the financial details of a sale that has nothing whatsoever to do with them.
This 100%. Even worse to draw attention to it by creating a post. I genuinely wonder how many of these posts are pseudo reality. Was there ever a civic? Will there ever be an s2000? Is this the real life, is this just fantasy. Shaoxter said:
I've happily told people what I've sold my car for, gives people an indication of the market. Once I did it to a low baller who called back after the car had sold and stuck it to him, felt pretty good. I wouldn't go round calling adverts marked as sold and trying to find the sold prices though...
I should add I also enjoy looking at people's house prices on Rightmove, I'm a believer in freedom of information
Perhaps I misjudged things. I really didn't think it would be a big deal. Wouldn't bother me giving that information away. I wasn't canvassing for information; I would have made an offer if he still had it. I should add I also enjoy looking at people's house prices on Rightmove, I'm a believer in freedom of information
Oh well, we are all different I guess.

I thought cars didn't sell privately?
They do at two grand. BuzzBravado said:

Helps to get an idea of the market, so I know what cars are actually going for, rather than advertised for. A chap yesterday let me know he sold for 2900 when advertised at 4400. There's no disadvantage to the seller at all.
That is flawed logic. Just cause it sold for 2900 doesn't give you any leverage over the ones still to sell. I sold a Legacy GTB for £2200 that would have sold easy for £4k, but i had good reasons to sell at £2.2k.Though I can't imagine it would have sold that easily at four grand, or you wouldn't have thrown away eighteen hundred quid.

Ok to avoid confusion, i sold it to a good friend who only had 2.2 and i'd rather see him with it than make 1800 more, it wasnt that big a deal.
Anyway i suspect the reason you are getting the criticism is because we are all well aware of the types that then go on to try and use that low selling price to bring down others.
" but yeah bruv, they are only gong for 2900 init".
If that's the case, it is unlikely you put it up for sale publicly though, correct? Anyway i suspect the reason you are getting the criticism is because we are all well aware of the types that then go on to try and use that low selling price to bring down others.

Perhaps, but if it is listed at x and someone takes y, it is likely because it didn't sell at x.

This. Why don't people delete their ads when the car is sold. Its the first thing I do, took all of 5 mins to remove the ads from Gumtree and Autotrader and didn't exactly require a degree in quantum physics to do either.
