Having gone through a few sporty cars, mostly Lotus, I’ve found myself enjoying the relative comfort of an F-Type without contorting myself to get in and out.

This seems to be the sign for people to keep telling me it’s ‘an old mans car’ (I’m not 50 for a few years) - it doesn’t bother me at all - I’m called far worse.
A 70 year old neighbour said it to me yesterday in jest, and she drives a diesel A3.

Even the young lad who runs the local chippy and drives a Volvo estate said it to me laugh

Not sure where this tag came from, a bit like cabriolets being ‘hairdresser’ cars or 911’s being mid-life crisis...

Certainly, I see some older generations driving Jags, as I do just about every other marque...
But on the flip side, I see mostly young(er) people with young families in the likes of the F-Pace.

24 and own an F Type. Bit of a chav spec, bright red with the option large black wheels and lower bodykit, never had anyone say anything about it being an old man's car or midlife crisis!

Most common one is always 'what is it?' followed by people looking a bit confused when I say it's a Jag. I've had a few separate (always female) people ask me if it's a Ferrari...must be the colour!

FWIW, all my mates of a similar age all think it's pretty awesome - I think it's had more positive comments than the Vantage I had beforehand

Mine is red too

So’s mine.... wink

I like jags but the missus tells me they’re old mans cars

Only thing that ever worries me with jags was the colossal depreciation they had, don’t know if they still do though
Asked her *why* she thinks that.

Jags defo still attract the Viagra crowd.

Saw an F-Type SVR this morning and the old boy musta bin well into his 50s or 60s.

The F-Pace is starting to bring down the average owner age. Plenty of middle managers in their 40s now starting to buy / lease / companycar them.
You don’t see lots of 50-60 year olds in any other car?
Porsche, Merc, Aston even?

Yeah she says their styling the colours and interiors look old manish and she’s only seen oldies drive them
Thanks.

My mrs doesn’t like my F-Type, mostly the colour and size I think, but she can’t stand hot hatches - Focus RS, VW Golf etc - she thinks they’re a chav car and anyone over mid twenties looks a dick in them!

I guess it’s just peoples perception, and once a tag sticks it takes a while for it to disappear.

I agree, I am 24 and would avoid a gold S-Type with small wheels and lots of chrome like the plague... However, I love my modified Super V8:

Probably seen as chavy by conservative Jaguar buyers, but people even my age and younger seem to love the shape of it, I personally think it is ageing well due to not trying to be modern, same goes for the X150 XK. Was not a fan of the X100.

The original XF looked great, but the new XE/XF/E-Pace are very meh for me...
Liking the look of that one!
