Just seen a TV ad for the Velar and it got me thinking that despite living in LR heartland, I haven't seen a single one on the roads since they came out.

I priced one up for the Mrs online and was absolutely shocked at the price of a nicely specced one and therefore quickly removed the idea from my head.

Anyone here got one or know how they're selling?

I was talking to a dealer before Christmas, he was saying they were having problems with the electrics (door handles) and they were holding them back. Would think that would have been sorted by now though.
Oddly enough the handles are one of the highlighted features on the tv advert.

When I first saw them I thought it was a brave idea for JLR biggrin

Seen a few knocking about up here , but seen far more RRS 17/67 plate models.

Had a quick look on AT and you can pick a decent pre reg RRS up for a lot less than the equivalent LRV.

I'm going to be in the market for one by late spring and will road test both but I'm already thinking the price differential will push me towards the RRS.

Anyone like to enlighten us to what deals are currently availabile on both ?
There have been some lease deals recently on the low spec diesel.

The difference when specced between one and a RRS isn't a great deal.

He did say they had loads of deposits.
Funnily enough, I saw one of these today... Driving down the road with the driver side front door handle standing proud!
I don't get it.

LR have had electrical problems since, well, forever.

Why can't they solve this?

I wonder whether they are perhaps a little too feminine looking? A little too pretty for their cost?

My Mrs thinks they're gorgeous but can't reconcile the cost. She said she's rather have a discovery and a new fleet of handbags!

I'd never drive one, for instance.

Hmm, new RR not selling, very much doubt that is the case, just a case of it still being very new and getting enough out there, another year and you wont be able to move for them, FFRR trading down, Evoques trading up, new buyers, it looks good, has the right badge and it will be bought/leased in droves.
It's a huge jump from an Evoque to one of these.

Without giving any specifics, Velar has outsold the Discovery, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in the last 3 months.
out of interest, are net sales up overall? presuming FFRR and RRS and more lucrative for LR, if the Velar is cannibalising sales it may not be a great thing. Given that most RR's are bought as lifestyle pieces I could envisage many buyers picking the Velar versus the RR's solely on looks. Id be interested to know how the new disco is selling as I think it looks awful and has moved into a weird space where I think it will appeal to more of a niche market.
The RR and RRS are at the end of their pre-facelift cycle though, which has to be taken into consideration.
