The government have won. Selling my diesel for a petrol.....
Discussion
It is with a heavy heart after 25k miles in my BMW 430D over the last year, I have admitted the government were right and we should never have bought them damn soot churning bd cars.
So last week and being a good proletariat; I bought a BMW M4 Competition pack. MPG is at 23 for the last 500 miles and Sainsbury's Super unleaded sales are at a record level but at least I am conforming.
Has anyone else converted?

To the OP; the Government have won twice, no?
Government then: Buy a diesel
OP: Ok
Government now: Buy a petrol
OP: Ok
....... and collect the duty and VAT from the higher sales of the petrolGovernment then: Buy a diesel
OP: Ok
Government now: Buy a petrol
OP: Ok
Today I waved goodbye to my diesel. Down to three petrols and one diesel.
We have an X3 petrol now on order so we may become soon an all petrol household.
No plans to go electric or even hybrid so the Governments hasty ill informed rash decision, has worked well.
Roll on 450bhp M4 as my daily car.

Went the other way and sold a petrol car, bought a diesel. Instead of 33mpg I now get 53mpg. So last week and being a good proletariat; I bought a BMW M4 Competition pack. MPG is at 23 for the last 500 miles and Sainsbury's Super unleaded sales are at a record level but at least I am conforming.

Not sure the governments policies have any bearing on our car buying habits.
