Toyota teases new Supra (again)
Lone image reveals new details of a 'modern racing concept' lined up for the Geneva show
The rear haunches appear considerably more defined than in previous pictures, closer to those on the FT-1 concept, with a sharper transition into the roof resulting in a more purposful stance than the previously chunky design.
There's also a bloody great wing on the back, perhaps hinting at a more track-orientated variant. As we already have confirmation that the Supra will be sold in four trim levels under the Gazoo banner, a bewinged range-topping Supra GRMN isn't too great a stretch.
Whatever final form the finished car takes, we'll have a little longer to wait: Toyota's pronounced "commitment to bringing its most iconic sports car back to the market" doesn't appear to be contingent on timeliness - the official unveil isn't expected now until early next year.
ETA - image of potential looks...we can only hope!
All these concept predictions that come out for various cars, really feel like the old Bullseye "Here's what you could have won..." scenario.
And whilst I know that it's not always the fault of the manufacturers (although in this case Toyota themselves bait us with things like the FT-1), they don't make life any easier for themselves with stupid teaser images and hints that things could almost be like the amazing concept we've already seen....could it...could it really? Well, no. It's going to look worse.
It's not always bad - just not as good as we had hoped.
Just thought of the perfect analogy - imagine finding out you were about to hook up with a Minogue sister....you get all the teasers..."It's a Minogue!"..."She's had hit singles!!"...oooo come on Kylie....then you find out it's Dani. I mean, yeah that's all great and stuff and who could argue with hooking up with Dani?? But I'd still be a little pissed that it wasn't Kylie.
Reality = overpriced GT86 with a turbo...
That grey FT-1 concept above is probably one of the most desirable 'cars' (quotes because that's a render) I've seen in years. At anywhere up to £60k, I would really struggle to not go straight round and place a deposit.
