Looking for the grippiest tyres possible for my supercharged Monaro. Off the line grip is more important than wear as I don’t do many miles and it likes to light up the back tyres.

Got Continental SportContact 5p on at the moment and they’ve been pretty good.

Now thinking of Continental SportContact 6 or
Michelin Pilot sport 4s.

Any opinions or other suggestions?

Have you looked online for tyre reviews?
Yes, that’s how I narrowed it down to those two. Most reviews are from drivers of hot hatches though. Not heavy, rwd cars with more power than grip. Would value first hand experience.

Road legal drag radials would be good!

What sort of conditions do you intend to run it in?

Toyo R888R, Dunlop Direzza DZ03G, Nankang AR-1 or Extreme VR2 for ultimate dry weather traction.
Mostly dry use as I only drive it in the wet by mistake.

I used the cheapest I could find on my VE GTS, which last time round were "Durons".

Why spend a lot? They were going to get turned into smoke anyway.
I had a set of Falkens on it for a about 6m before replacing with Contis. Falkens were terrifying in the wet and not something I want to repeat.

Interesting and thanks for the replies. Sounds like the PS4s are the way to go. Surprised there’s not more love for the Continentals, I thought the 5ps were pretty good and the 6 is supposed to run the Michelins close in terms of performance.

Huh.....??

I thought going sideways, or off the line in a cloud of tyre smoke accompanied by a snarling V8 soundtrack and a stupid grin on your face was the whole point of owning one..... confused
It can still do that smile

Good idea, are these (essentially) drag radials type appproved for use in the UK/Europe?
